Our name has changed, but our service hasn't

Paxson & Hawthorne Insurance has served Northern Virginia for 100 years. For the past 20 years Prescott Engle has been the leading insurance agent and the spark behind our explosive growth. He has also given strong and proven leadership as General Manager of the firm.

Recently Prescott purchased the Paxson & Hawthorne and has positioned the company for exciting growth and future development as Engle, Paxson & Hawthorne.

When talking with Pres Engle, you don’t have to wait long to hear him share his enthusiasm in providing insurance coverage for both his commercial and personal clients. Often you’ll hear him say, “I love the insurance business because I know we are providing people with peace-of-mind concerning the unexpected.”

The name Prescott Engle has long been associated with Paxson and Hawthorne Insurance. Now his name stands alongside theirs as we prepare for the next 100 years of continued growth

Prescott Engle

Prescott Engle was born and raised in Charlestown, WV, growing up on a farm just outside of town. He graduated from Jefferson High School and Shepherd College (now Shepherd University).

He spent ten years in the United States Army as a communications specialist with Special Forces. Although he has amassed a vast amount of experience during his years at Paxson & Hawthorne, Pres sees the Army as one of the greatest training opportunities he ever received for a future in leadership and business development.

Joining P & H in June of 1986, Pres told his boss, “I don’t know a lot about insurance, but I know a lot about me. In five years I’ll be one of your best agents.” It didn’t take him that long, rising to the top tier for agents in Northern Virginia in just four years. His entire portfolio was built by cold-calling and a commitment to actively servicing his clients.

Now, twenty years later, Pres has become an expert in insurance industry, offering his vast knowledge and experience to his current and future clients.

Karen Aronhalt

Karen Aronhalt is a Personal Lines Agent for Engle, Paxson & Hawthorne, specializing in providing her clients with comprehensive life, home, or auto coverage. A life-long resident of Loudoun County, Karen graduated from Longwood College, in Farmville, VA before returning to Philomont, where she had been raised.

She joined EPH (then Paxson & Hawthorne) in December of 2001, after spending twelve years in the airline industry, most recently as the Manager of the Training Records Department with Atlantic Coast Airlines. Her attention to details in the training department with ACA has worked well in the insurance industry. Just as she was responsible to track training and qualification for pilots, flight attendants, and dispatchers, she carefully oversees the policies and coverage of her clients.

Karen’s life is anything but dull. She and her son, Jason who is a Junior at Loudoun Valley High School, share their home with four snakes, three lizards, one gecko (who does not work for that “other” insurance company), one dog, two cats, a bird and two fish. The largest snake is ten feet long and weighs 75 lbs. She also continues a life-long hobby of collecting “Barbies.”

For the past 20 years Karen has served as a member of the Philomont Volunteer Fire Department and is active in many different forms of community service.

Karen really enjoys being an insurance agent and looks forward to growing with Engle, Paxson & Hawthorne in the future.
